2020 LROC Treasure Hunt

02 February 2020 - Coenie Du Toit
On Sunday, 2 February 2020, it was time for the yearly Treasure Hunt and this year it was held at Sandwani, just North of Pretoria in the Cullinan area. The Treasure Hunters assembled at 08H30 sharp, manned with a pen and GPS, all ready for the day. After completing the registration and admin requirements, we determined the starting through a round of Bingo.

The Treasure Hunt map took the Hunters on a circle route with a stop at the Wimpy in Cullinan. From there the route circled back to Sandwani, where there were more treasures between the trees and on top of the sand hills.

The last coordinate was on top of "the rock" with presented all with a fantastic photo opportunity.

After the final scoring was tallied, we had a tie and because there can only be one winner, we again settled the win with a round of Bingo. The lucky bingo team and winners of the day were the Sam-family who received the Treasure Hunt Trophy at the LROC 2020 AGM.

This day is not only about fun in the sun and being out in nature, but also has a charitable component to it. All funds raised on this day were donated by the LROC to the Guide Dog Association of South Africa. This year our members managed to raise just over R1,000, and the Daryl Becks floating trophy which is awarded to the member/family that raised the most funds, was awarded to the Sam-family.

With all the formalities out of the way it was time for a braai and catch-up next to the fire.

Once again thank you to all that made it, and a special thanks to Jacques and Lizette Beard that provided significant assistance with the arrangements.
