The camping facility is basic, but set in the most amazing natural environment! There are sufficient ablutions that are well maintained with staff ensuring that the donkey is stoked for hot water. The communal braai in the boma Saturday evening was well received and some old friendships were revived while new friendships were formed.
The venue is aimed at eco tourism and not a dedicated 4x4 destination. The options for laying out the Trial were thus limited, but we managed to create an interesting Trial using the natural obstacles around the quarry with the guidance of Willem and the assistance of the Blikkies, Jono and Stroebels. Thanks to all for the assistance!
The Kiddies Trial utilized the last nine gates of the Summer Trial, but in reverse order. There were a few "big eye" moments and some "killed poles", but no dangerous situations. The kids seemed to really enjoy these rare opportunities to take to wheel and experience what dad does!
The Summer Trial went well with a balance of basic and more advanced obstacles catering for both the novices and the more experienced drivers. Just a note to the navigators, always keep at least a car length from the vehicle to allow yourself time and space to get out of the way when guiding from the outside.
Thanks to everyone who attended and to all who assisted during the weekend. A special thanks to all who helped with the marshalling on Sunday in the blazing sun!
The weekend was ended with the "bittereinders" having a last braai before packing and departing home!
Well done to the winners on the day:
