Safety was once again the order of the day as trainees were taken through the various types of recovery equipment during the morning followed by a practical winching session in the afternoon where the trainees could put their newly found skills to the test and 'recover' a stranded vehicle which happened to be Gerrie's green 110 Defender which he 'mistakenly' got stuck in a mud pool!
We also practically demonstrated the potentially disastrous effects of a kinetic strap that 'failed' during a snatching exercise to highlight to the trainees how important the safety aspects of the recovery process are. We completed the session with a short assessment of the basic principles and all trainees passed with flying colours! Well done!
The trainees were eager to buy new recovery gear from the trailer and we once again made excellent sales on the day - thanks to all those that supported - our stock is very well priced compared to the retailers out there!
The day ended at about 16h00 and was enjoyed by all. Well done to the successful trainees who received their attendance certificates and my thanks to Jakob Jordaan and Gerrie Myburgh for their valued support on the day. Also to Lizette that helped with the recovery equipment sales. Great job! Nigel Wilshire, our new Driver Trainer joined us on the day and his input is also greatly appreciated.
