It is hard to believe that it has been a year since we held the last Sunset with Simon in Kyalami. Due to the success of that event, we planned to have something similar this year, but rather incorporate it as part of a weekend camp-out. What better spot than Somabula in the Cullinan area: perfect to enjoy a bush experience with friends – old and new - and enjoy some good cheese and wine and get some insights from Simon on the history and cheese making at Fairview.

The plan is to arrive to set up camp on Friday afternoon. There’ll be a communal fire for those who would like to socialise. Enjoy a relaxing Saturday morning or hike or a game viewing drive along one of the Somabula trails. Read more here

On Saturday afternoon we’ll gather at the Fish Eagle Lapa to enjoy the sunset and a cheese and wine experience with Simon followed by the option of continuing the party around a fire and braai.

We will provide bread, cheeses, biscuits and various condiments which go well with these. You will need to bring along your own table, chairs, wine glasses, plates, and knives.

Simon will have some well-priced, good quality Fairview white and red wine for sale, or you can bring your own wines. We have sampled the Fairview red during lockdown and it keeps surprising me. I will share details with those who book via our WhatsApp group.

We need to limit attendance so if you’re interested, please secure your event booking with the Club Administrator by paying your deposit to the Club Administrator.

A deposit of R250 per couple will cover the supply of cheese & condiments.

A variety of accommodation options are available, ranging from camping to self-catering cottages including unique ox-wagons. Most of the campsites have shared ablutions, and although there are private campsites available, one (Egret) has already been booked by a non-club member.
